GRT has standard requirements based on the different countries buyers can serve:
1. China:
  • National standard:
  • GB/T 12554-2006: “Technical Conditions for Plastic Injection Molds” stipulates the requirements, acceptance, marking, packaging, transportation and storage of plastic injection molds, and puts forward the basic requirements for the structure, performance and precision of the molds.
  • GB/T 4169.1~4169.23-2006: “injection mold parts” series of standards specify the size, tolerance, technical requirements of various types of injection mold parts, is an important basis for the design and manufacture of mold parts.
  • GB/T 12556-2006: “Plastic injection mold mold frame technical conditions” on the structure of the mold frame, size, precision, materials and other specifications to ensure the quality and reliability of the mold frame.
  • GB/T 14486-2008: Dimensional Tolerance of Plastic Molded Parts stipulates the range of dimensional tolerance of plastic molded parts, which provides a reference standard of dimensional accuracy for mold design and plastic parts production.
  • Industry standards: different industries may have some specific industry standards for plastic molds, such as QJ841-1984 “General Technical Conditions for Plastic Molds and Their Parts” in the aerospace field, etc. These standards are for the needs and characteristics of specific industries, and the technical requirements for plastic molds have been further refined and supplemented.
2. United States:
  • Society of the Plastics Industry (SPI) standards:
  • Type 101: Applicable to very high production volume products, requiring mold materials of high quality, detailed design information, mold embryo hardness of at least BHN280 (HRC30), mold surface (upper and lower mold) hardness of at least BHN450 (48HRC), fittings with hardened tool steel, ejector with guides, the side of the slider equipped with a loss plate, where possible to install a temperature controller. Inserts or templates with cooling water for anti-erosion treatment, equipped with mold clamping mechanism for parting line, etc.
  • Model 102: Suitable for products with high production volume, also requiring detailed design information, mold embryo hardness BHN280 (HRC30) or above, upper and lower mold surface hardness BHN540 (HRC48) range, functional fittings with heat treatment, temperature controllers wherever possible, and also according to the production volume to consider whether to increase the number of ejector guiding parts, slider loss boards etc.
  • Type 103: Suitable for products with medium production volume, detailed design information is required, mold hardness at least BHN165 (HRC17), upper and lower molds at least BHN280 (HRC30), and other accessories can be freely selected.
  • Type 104: Suitable for products with low production volume, the mold material does not require high wear resistance, the mold body can be soft steel or aluminum metal, etc., the design information is recommended.
  • Type 105: For production of limited quantities of first plates, the mold construction material is required to provide sufficient strength to produce a minimum number of first plates.
  • American Society of Mechanical Engineers (ASME) standards: in the mold design, manufacturing, inspection, etc. There are also some related standards and specifications, such as the dimensional accuracy of the mold, surface quality, mechanical properties and other aspects of the requirements.
3. Germany:
  • HASCO standard: HASCO is a famous mold standard system in Germany, which has strict regulations on the size, structure, matching accuracy and material of plastic mold parts. For example, in the mold guidance system, ejector system, cooling system, etc., HASCO standard has detailed requirements to ensure the accuracy, reliability and service life of the mold. The standard has wide influence in European region, and mold enterprises in many European countries also adopt HASCO standard for mold design and manufacturing.
4. Japan:
  • JIS standard: Japanese Industrial Standard (JIS) in the plastic mold materials, dimensional accuracy, surface quality, performance testing and other aspects are specified. For example, the chemical composition of the mold steel, mechanical properties, heat treatment process has clear requirements to ensure the quality and performance of the mold.
  • MISUMI Standard: MISUMI is a well-known mold parts supplier in Japan, and its standards are widely used in the Japanese mold industry. the MISUMI standard regulates the dimensions, precision, materials, surface treatment, etc. of the mold parts, which facilitates the selection and procurement of parts by mold enterprises.
5. Korea:
  • Korea Science and Technology Standards Bureau (KSB) has formulated a series of standards related to plastic molds, such as ksb4152-2015 “plastic mold guide pins”, ksb4162-2015 “plastic mold corner pins”, ksb4111-2001 (2011) “plastic mold shaped shanks”, etc., on the plastic mold of various parts of the size, shape, performance, etc. have been stipulated in detail to ensure the quality and interchangeability of the molds.
6. Others:
